If an electric radiant burner goes straight to maximum heat regardless of where you set the knob, the infinite switch (the control behind the knob) has shorted out internally. This is a severe fire hazard, and you should stop using that burner immediately. We can safely replace the shorted switch to restore proper temperature control.

Continuous clicking happens when the spark module fails to detect the flame. This is usually due to a dirty or wet spark electrode (very common after a spill or wiping down the cooktop), a misaligned burner cap, or a failing ignition switch harness underneath the control knobs.
